NYE 2007
January 6th, 2008Gordon’s 90th Birthday
October 2nd, 2007
It’s not every day that you see 90 of something. It’s not every day that you get a chance to hear the “meaning of life” (thanks Ian). We were lucky enough to do both on Sunday with the celebration of Gordon Goodwin’s 90th birthday. A man of fine taste (Verdehlo, Sauvignon Blanc, Whisky, Classical Music - Refer to the headphones), fine stories, reading and a loving family and friends. A celebration worthy of such a milestone was held and fun was had by all. Have a look at the slideshow, or the photo album.
… and the meaning of life? Love.
China and Marriage
September 26th, 2007
Not typically two terms you hear together but I thought they sounded great together. That’s why Jody and I got engaged while we were in China. Apart from Jody being quite blunt that she thought that it would happen while we away, it was a romantic affair at M on the Bund in Shanghai. So, we are to be wed.
Here’s us with the Shanghai business district views in the background.
Here’s the slideshow or the album of the pics from the trip.
An apple a day…
August 19th, 2007So I’ve taken the plunge after a number of years contemplating it… I’ve bought a Mac. I thought that I’d bite the bullet and get into some computer technology where I can generate content rather than piss-fart around tring to get software or hardware working. Well, that’s the desire anyway. I ended up getting one of the new iMacs and it’s a treat so far. I’ve had a few little hiccups in just attempting something while being classically conditioned for the Microsoft Windows world but it’s actually fading pretty quickly. Anyway, these are pretty (quite) pretty machines.
Flock - the social web browser
August 19th, 2007I’ve heard a bit about Flock. I beleive it’s based on Firefox but is full of stuff to make help you get content published to various web forums such as blogs, photo journals (e.g. flickr) and bookmarking sites (e.g. del.icio.us). So far it’s good (I’m writing this in Flock). Check it out: Flock - the social web browser
word.
So… what’s with facebook? Why do we need more social networking on the Internet when most of us suck at it in real life? Why has it become the latest fad? I thought it was around for quite some time and now I’m fielding facebook requests (which my AV for some reason labels as spam
) on a daily basis and I’m pimping out my profile. What good will come of this I wonder?… All I can say is that MySpace is so 15 minutes ago.

July 21st, 2007La Grande Bouffe
July 20th, 2007Or was it Le Grande Bouffe? Either way, because Paul turned 58 today, and he isn’t going to get enough French food when he and Trish head to France in a couple of weeks, we thought it would be a good idea to hit a local French restaurant. Salmon followed by Rabbit. Tasty treats I tell ya. Happy Birthday Paul!
7.7.07 - Live Earth - You work out the date…
July 7th, 2007
So, it’s about time we had another global concert to raise awareness about something. I don’t know what it is in Australia that’s suddenly propelled “the environment” into the mainstream but I something tells me it’s an election looming. Cynicism aside, Live Earth is a great way to reinforce that everybody should be informed, everyone should participate, and a lot of small actions amount to a HEAP of change - so make your choice. Every little bit helps.

East Ocean Restaurant
May 20th, 2007
The East Ocean Restaurant was floated at the last minute by Craigy. The Yum Cha Challenge doesn’t typically accept submissions on the day. In this case however, The Challenge was willing to make an exception as we were all bored and had nothing better to do other than stuff our faces full of tasty fare.
